SILENT AUCTION FEATURING ARTS AND CRAFTS

THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- to our donors and our members --- for a very successful Silent Auction. Over $5,000.00 was raised in total !!!! 50% of the funds will be donated to the Canadian Social Work Foundation and 50% of the funds will be used to offset conference expenses.THANK YOU

The Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers was host to the National Conference in June 2006 and solicited donations for the Silent Auction held in conjunction with the conference Banquet. Donors were invited to make a donation which also provided a unique marketing opportunity for their artwork or product. Part of the proceeds were donated to the Canadian Social Work Foundation, a charitable organization that promotes the advancement of knowledge in the field of social work. A wide variety of unique items were assembled through the kindness of the local merchants, artists, craft people and professionals. A complete list of all the donations and contact information can be found by clicking on the Items button on the left and was also included in the attendees' conference packages.

So what was so unique about this opportunity?

The Conference web site was linked to the Silent Auction site where auction items were posted and were available for visitors to view prior to the conference. The conference web address was distributed nationally via professional social work newsletters, journals and other provincial and territorial association websites. A donor's product or art work had national exposure at no cost to the donor.

About our organization. . .

The Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers promotes and regulates the practice of social work so its members can provide a high standard of service that respects diversity, promotes social justice, and enhances the worth, self-determination and potential of individuals, families and communities.

How to participate.

The donor's product will be eligible to have information posted on the Silent Auction web site. Once the item was received, a description of the item was posted and a direct link made from the donpr's web page to the Silent Auction page.

Auction Bidding Instructions.

The Silent Auction began at 6PM on June 19th. Persons wishing to bid on an item were required to legibly print their name, amount of their bid, and confirm their bid with a signature. As a reflection of the quality of many of the items in the silent auction, a minimum starting bid was established. Items are required to be paid in full during the night of the auction at the cashier's desk. Payments were made by cash, cheque, MasterCard or Visa.
